Our trainee and PhD programs offer high-grade prospects for young professionals. Our Global Champion trainee program offers young professionals an exceptional opportunity to develop in an international, challenging, cross-brand environment. If you are ready to break new ground with enthusiasm and extraordinary performance, then our trainee program is exactly the right choice for you.
You should have a master’s degree and outstanding academic performance. We expect our trainees to be cooperative and team-focused, to have excellent communication skills and a results-oriented working style.
If your dedication and academic knowledge are also above average, if you are fluent in English, and if you have already spent time abroad and are internationally minded—then you could be one of our next trainees.
In addition to cross-brand TRATON projects, our Trainees also have the unique opportunity to experience the special characteristics of the various brands as they participate in cross-brand rotations to one or several of the TRATON brands: Scania, MAN, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus, or RIO.
You will experience 15 months fully packed with valuable learning experiences and challenging, real business projects in close cooperation with highly experienced international colleagues.
Your trainee program starts directly with our cross-brand On-Boarding week, during which you make direct contact with the trainees of all TRATON brands and get a first comprehensive introduction to your TRATON journey. After starting the program you have the possibility to proactively plan your rotations in consultation with your direct manager. The first stage of the program is normally within your home department, followed by three rotations in other departments and brands of the TRATON GROUP. Additionally, the program offers the opportunity to spend time in dealerships.
After successfully completing the trainee program and demonstrating excellent performance, you have the chance to participate in an extra three-month project module. This offers you the opportunity to work on a real business project in a cross-brand team and present the results to members of the Truck Board.
You will have a mentor from your home department and from the Corporate Human Resources team throughout the entire program. Once you have finished the program, you will have an excellent network, which will be very valuable for any future function within the TRATON GROUP.
Our PhD students drive the company’s capacity for innovation, develop new ideas and keep up with the times while applying their academic knowledge in practice.
As we expect excellent performance during the doctorate program, we require top qualifications in advance: a master’s degree or equivalent, plus outstanding academic performance combined with relevant professional experience (e.g., from internships). Your profile is complete as a result of international experience. High motivation and dedication, strong analytical thinking, and a results-oriented working style are also valuable assets.
The Truck Doc Program contributes to your appetite for academic research in an international working environment. The program has various advantages for you as you get: three years of professional work experience, the chance to present your topic to colleagues and work on challenging and future-oriented business needs. As a part of a doctorate network, you will be able to network and extend your professional horizon.
We clearly stipulate that 51% of your working hours should be devoted to your PhD. You will discuss with your department how to apply this in practice. Your mentor, who will accompany you throughout the program, will also support this.
Take the opportunity to become an outstanding PhD candidate; we will start thinking about your future career options with us before you complete your doctorate.

Our HR consultant will review your application documents carefully. We will get in touch with you as soon as possible and will let you know if your profile seems to be a good fit.
If your profile meets our requirements, you will be invited to a phone interview with our HR department so that we can get a better idea of your experience.
If your phone interview is successful, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview with the Head of the Business Unit and our HR consultant. Here you will have the chance to get to know us and show your full potential. In order to have a more in-depth discussion and get to know each other better, this may be followed by meetings with other partners and peers.
After the face-to-face interview we will discuss what we think of you—as will you—and will let you know the outcome as soon as possible.
We will, of course, discuss your contract and related conditions in depth and will clarify any unanswered questions.
During your onboarding on your first working day, you will get a good and comprehensive information packet in order to become a full member of the TRATON team as soon as possible.
Your business unit will welcome you within your department and take care of introductions.
